September Foodie Penpal Package

It seems that, quite unintentionally, I took the month of September off from blogging. It wasn’t planned, it just sort of happened. But I’m back, embracing fall and raring to go with a list of ideas and recipes to test in the next few months. I decided it only seemed fitting to have my first post back be a thank you ,and mirror my last post before my “mini-break”. So here we are with a Foodie Penpal package post.

For those of you just tuning in, the Foodie Penpal program is a fun monthly event started by Lindsay over at The Lean Green Bean. You simply sign up through her site, then on the 5th of the month you get your penpal pairing via email. You send them a note, get all the information you might need (allergies, diet restrictions, address etc) and then put together a tasty package by the 15th of the month. Finally, on the last day of the month, if you’re a blogger, you post about the goodies you received from your penpal (Not a blogger? No worries. It’s open to sane people too). Other than a $15 maximum what you put in the parcel is up to you. The best part is is you get to meet two new people – the person you mail to and the person who mails to you.

This September I got to mail to Bibiana. I highly recommend taking some time to look through her blog, Bibi’s Culinary Journey.  You will find lots of recipes and information. It’s a great site. Guaranteed I’m going to be staying in touch with her in the future.

As for me, wow was I lucky. I received a lovely parcel from Srimanti in Alberta. Packed with everything I need to make some beautiful Italian meals. Spices, cheese, tomato paste, gorgeous sun dried tomatoes in oil, a super yummy balsamic vinegar and two kinds of noodles (one of them gluten free!). And, for a bit of inspiration an Italian cookbook (don’t tell my husband – he’s forbidden me to get another cookbook!).
